Administrators of BLP UK Ltd, one of the country’s largest manufacturers of wrapped mouldings and cabinet doors, are talking to several unnamed parties about a possible sale of the business.
Fifteen redundancies have been made by BLP’s joint administrators Lyn Vardy and David Ian Green of PricewaterhouseCoopers since the company went into administration on Janaury 28.
“The administrators are still trading the business and are talking to a number of interested parties about a potential sale,” said a PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) spokesperson. A further statement is likely to be released by the end of February.
Doncaster-based BLP is the second major MDF mouldings manufacturer to go into administration, following Palgrave Brown last year.
Administrators said the company had suffered “significant” losses as a result of the housing downturn and slowdown in consumer spending on home improvements. The loss of a key account with B&Q is also believed to have been a contributing factor to its problems.
BLP made significant investments in machinery in recent years and opened a factory in China.
