The British Woodworking Federation (BWF) will hold its first event in Northern Ireland this month to promote its Timber Windows Accreditation Scheme (TWAS).

The conference at Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown, on May 23 is being held jointly with the Northern Ireland Timber Trade Association (NITTA) and is part of the BWF’s ongoing tour promoting TWAS.

BWF director Kevin Cubbage will give a comprehensive review of the scheme while Clyve Perkin, former chief executive of the Benlowe Group Ltd incorporating Bennett Windows, will cover the years when the timber window industry declined and then revived.

Geoff Taylor, technical manager of TWAS-accredited Akzo Nobel Woodcare, will speak about full factory finishing and Maurice Brooks, president of NITTA, will look at the way ahead for the scheme in Northern Ireland.
