Canada is downplaying new talks with the US aimed at solving the continuing softwood lumber dispute.
John Allan, head of the British Columbia Council of Forest Industries, said previous talks had high expectations but only ended in frustration.
Discussions, expected to last two or three days, will take place in Washington and will involve local, federal and industry officials from both countries.
Both sides will consider proposals exchanged earlier this year. Canada wants America to end its punishing duties on Canadian softwood shipments, while the US wants its neighbour to introduce a more market-based forestry system.
