More than 450 exhibitors attended this year’s Carrefour International du Bois which attracted 8,874 visitors to the Pays de la Loire region of France.
Growth areas included timber flooring manufacturers who represented 10% of the exhibitors compared to 6% in 2002 and panelling manufacturers, who also grew by 4%, from 8% to 12%.
Of the 453 exhibitors, 22% were from overseas from countries as far afield as Canada, China and Chile.
The organisers, Atlanbois and the Nantes Saint-Nazaire port authority, said 21 organisations and trade associations chose the trade show as a venue for organising internal meetings or conferences.
Sixty-two nationalities were represented among the visitors, including delegations from Japan and China.
During the event Ecole Supérieure du Bois held a conference which examined “Developing markets and promoting timber”.
The next event will take place on May 31-June 2, 2006.
