The three-day event in Nantes last week, which had around 464 exhibitors, reports total attendance of 9,050.

“That’s only slightly ahead of the 2004 total, but our target was 9,000 so we’re very happy and the feedback we’re getting from exhibitors was that the right people came – a lot of business was done,” said Cécile Touret, communications head at Carrefour organisers Atlanbois.

Ms Touret added that the number of overseas visitors also exceeded expectations.

“They made up 15% of the total, compared to 13% at the last show,” she said. “That two-point increase is very important to us as we and the exhibitors have worked to increase the international nature of Carrefour.”

The organisers were also pleased with the reception of its new “Techniques and Solutions” section – the hall dedicated to wood construction products, with presentations and seminars targeted at building professionals.

“We had good level of attendance from architects and builders and we will definitely continue with the concept at the show in 2008,” said Ms Touret.

A full report will appear in a later edition of TTJ.
