Czech company CE Wood has set up a subsidiary – CE Wood Energy – to process waste from wood processing plants and convert it into heat and power.
In the main, the power will be consumed by sawmills, but some will be sold.
The first energy centre is to be created at Ptenî near Prostijov which is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction.
The firm is to invest CzK720m in the modernisation, CzK400m of which will be spent on the energy centre.
The company plans to build a turbine with a power output of around 5MWh, which will manily process waste from the Ptenî sawmill.
Ivan Doubrava, chairman of the board of directors of CE Wood, said: “The production technology will be based on the combustion of wood biomass – that is it will produce 100% pure green energy.”
He said the CE Wood group plans to build three to five energy centres for its production facilities.
