Laminate flooring industry association Certified European Laminate Quality (CELQ) has decided to disband in response to markets trends.
The organisation, which is responsible for issuing the CELQ quality seal said the CEQL seal had not managed to achieve acceptance among end consumers alongside the more well-known EPLF logo.
It said the problem was exacerbated by the introduction of the CE symbol for laminate flooring at the start of 2006 which overlapped with important parts of the CELQ seal.
“End consumers are also increasingly being overwhelmed with quality and environmental seals which has led to a loss of credibility in them,” CELQ said.
The CELQ quality seal will still be in force until the end of the year.
