Workers at Carter Holt Harvey‘s (CHH) Marsden plant, New Zealand, have gone on strike in a pay dispute.
About 140 Futurebuild Laminated Veneer Lumber staff walked out because they do not receive the same overtime rate as fellow workers at CHH’s Tokoroa plywood mill.
The strikers want time-and-a-half overtime pay instead of the current 1.2 rate.
Other aspects of pay and conditions, including a 3% wage rise, have already been agreed.
CHH has offered to increase overtime to the higher rate in a year’s time.
