China’s forestry industry has been growing at the rate of some 10% a year and there is no sign of let up.

The country’s production of artificial boards, furniture and rosin is the largest in the world and the output of turpentine, lac and wooden flooring has placed China in the top three globally.

In 2003 China’s forestry industry generated about 586 billion yuan – a 26.4% increase on 2002. More than 45.5 million m3 of artificial board, 165 million pieces of furniture and 443.3 thousand tons or rosin products were produced in 2003
