China has lifted import restrictions on a number of products, including plywood.
The move, which brings the country in line with World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules, came into force on December 11, the third anniversary of China’s entry to the WTO.
Previously, the government allowed only a limited number of companies to act as agents for plywood. Restrictions on timber imports were lifted in 1999.
