The Bo’ness timber supplier and specialist machinist has attracted £225,000 support for the project from Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley.
The 32,700ft2 manufacturing facility, expected to be completed by July, will enable Christie to rapidly expand its market share of the Scottish and UK timber market and further capitalise on the current buoyant housing, construction and DIY sectors.
More than 28 jobs will be safeguarded by the move, with 12 new positions expected to be created in the coming years. The new site also incorporates warehousing and offices.
“Being well over twice the size of our existing sawmill, these new premises will unlock almost unlimited potential for expansion and further employment,” said managing director Jim Harwood.
“The move is an essential part of our future strategy. The relocation to larger, modern premises with improved manufacturing facilities and increased capacity will provide the means to expand sales and secure the long term growth and future of the business.”
Moulding specialist Christie aims to increase its current turnover of £2.7m to more than £5m during the next five years.
