The Duke of Kent has officially opened Christie Timber Services Ltd‘s new £1.5m facility in Bo’ness, Scotland.
The 32,700ft² manufacturing facility is double the size of Christie’s existing New Victoria sawmill and will “unlock almost unlimited potential for expansion and further employment”, according to managing director Jim Harwood.
Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley provided £225,000 for the project, and said that the development was the kind of project it was keen to work on to promote business in the area.
“I am confident that these new improved facilities and increased capacity will provide the means to expand sales and secure the long-term growth and future of the business in Bo’ness,” said Scottish Enterprise operations director Stuart Ogg.
“Christie is a great example of the ambitious businesses that Scottish Enterprise is keen to work with to help expand their production and markets while constantly improving their productivity.”
Mr Harwood added that the new facility was “central to future strategy” for Christie and would enable the firm to target a larger section of the housing construction and DIY markets.
