The move, which sees the enlarged company renamed Clearwood UK, combines Clearwood’s hi-tech and high volume capabilities with the traditional bespoke skills of Devoran.
Redruth-based Clearwood UK will now operate two divisions, Clearwood and Devoran, to offer multi-solutions for commercial developers and individuals.
Clearwood UK managing director Trevor Howard said: “The combination of Clearwood and Devoran creates a powerful company that has a strong position in the market. The range of skills now on offer will enable us to compete not just in the south-west but throughout the UK and Europe.”
Danny Osborne, formerly of Devoran Joinery and now head of Clearwood UK’s bespoke production, said: “This is a strategic and exciting move for both companies.
“The shift to a larger and more efficient factory will undoubtedly allow us to continue our high quality bespoke joinery and take on a greater variety, scale and sophistication of jobs, which can only increase our skills levels and demand in the market place.”
The deal also allows Devoran’s qualified craftsmen to be exposed to bigger and more exciting contracts through Clearwood UK’s rapid expansion plans during the next few years, when the company aims to double turnover year-on-year.
Devoran employees moved to the Clearwood site on March 23. The former’s metalworking business is not part of the acquisition.
Clearwood UK, which focuses on the manufacture of windows, doors and staircases, is a member of the Rowe Group of Companies.
