Forest ‘invaders’ such as gypsy moths, wild boar and Asian long-horned beetles will come under the microscope at this year’s woodland conference organised by the Royal Forestry Society and the Royal Agricultural Society of England.
The NDG James Memorial Conference at the National Agricultural Centre, Stoneleigh, on March 6 includes a range of speakers covering the theory and practice of containing pests and disorders representing a real or potential threat to trees.
More than 200 delegates will hear that more harmful species could appear in the UK as a reuslt of climate change.
Other invaders to come under scrutiny are sudden oak dieback, rhododendrons, exotic deer and grey squirrels.
