European producers and users of wood-based panels will meet scientific researchers at a conference designed to help the industry answer future demands and head off the threat of foreign competition.
The Wood Resources and Panel Properties conference at Valencia on June 12-14 aims to provide a two-way flow of information between the industry and scientific community on the economical and technological links between wood resources and the panel sector.
The event is part of EU Cost Action E44, which intends to grow the knowledge required to create a European wood processing strategy, and COST Action E49, which uses scientific advances to help the panels sector meet higher technical, economic and environmental standards.
Subjects for debate at Valencia include new raw materials for panels, improving fire performance, emission reduction and validation of sustainability.
