Wood fibre supply in the UK will be one of the hot topics during a major conference being organised by Forestry Commission Scotland and ConFor.
Use of timber in construction and new markets for renewable energy will also be discussed at the Forestry in the Low Carbon Economy conference on June 2.
Keynote speakers include Richard Lochhead, cabinet secretary for rural affairs and the environment, and UPM Tilhill managing director Steve Lavery.
A recent report on future wood fibre availability in the UK (2007-2025) by John Clegg Consulting and the Read report into climate change will form discussion points.
The conference’s aim is to inform and raise awareness of forestry and wood’s role in a low carbon economy.
