Coniferous standing sales prices in Britain were 5.2% lower in real terms in the year to 2004 compared with the previous year, according to the Forestry Commission.
In its latest Coniferous Standing Sales Price Index for Great Britain, the Forestry Commission said this continues the downward path in prices, but is a less steep decline than in the year to March 2003, when they were 24.8% lower in real terms on the previous year.
The average price per m3 of overbark standing was £5.60, compared with £4.65 in 1996.
