The company said it had noticed that many PVCu doors and windows were coming to the end of their lives and consumers were returning to timber to inject style and quality.
“It would most certainly appear that the tables have now well and truly turned and we’re set for a memorable period of innovation in the use of timber in door and window design,” said Scotts’ marketing manager Julia Berrie.
Scotts, which earlier this year reported a surge in the use of American black walnut in door design, said the latest trend was for contemporary flush doors. The company said customers wanted to design their own doors after being inspired by travelling and the media.
“We often seem to forget the very purpose a door fulfils and don’t consider the amazing impact that a striking door design can have in a property, added Ms Berrie. “ That is until now it would appear.”
She said designers were using innovative material combinations to specify “stunning” door designs for new-builds.
