A Forestry Commission survey has found that 38% of people who have shopped for wood products in the past two years recognise the Forest Stewardship Council symbol.
The “GB Public Opinion of Forestry 2005” report also reveals that 66% of adults questioned want to see more woodland in their area.
The biennial survey found that 50% of adults have seen or read about forests, woodlands or trees on television, radio or in newspapers during the past 12 months.
About 6% of adults have been consulted about plans for creating, managing or using woodlands and 42% would like to be consulted in the future.
