The Construction Products Association (CPA) is urging industry to lobby MPs to take notice of its recent report “Achievable Targets? Is Government Delivering?”.

A CPA spokesperson said: “We are anxious to raise awareness and stimulate debate in the House on this vital issue of government delivery.”

At the request of the CPA, Conservative MP for Macclesfield Sir Nicholas Winterton has tabled an Early Day Motion in the House of Commons.

It reads “That this House notes with concern that current government targets to improve the UK’s schools and hospitals do not have effective corresponding monitoring systems to verify and guarantee progress towards their delivery; recognises that to ensure the effective and cost-efficient delivery of public capital build projects, the construction industry requires timely and well planned targets around which to base its capacity and avoid boom and bust; and takes note of the recent report published by the CPA which highlights particular areas of concern.”
