A timber merchant which lost £65,000-70,000 worth of stock in an arson attack during September is now fully back up and running thanks to help from regular customers.

Coventry-based Timber To Go, established two-and-a-half years ago, lost an 18,000ft2 warehouse containing softwood and £14,000 worth of machinery in the Foleshill blaze attended by more than 180 firefighters.

Owner Jim Sephton said: “We have been operating ever since the fire but had to move to a new site.”

The company had to install power, buy new machinery and undertake some construction work on the second site at Holbrooks, at a cost of around £60,000.

Mr Sephton said regular customers had been “absolutely fantastic”.

“The response has been quite suprising but very nice. Some people told us they would take a couple of weeks’ holidays because they did not want to buy from anybody else.”

He said other builder customers had even given their services for free to help get the business back off the ground.

Mr Sephton said the company had been attempting to keep trading since the fire but, until now, had been doing a fraction of its usual business.
