European suppliers of spruce and pine are poised to take advantage of the countervailing duty (CVD) dispute between Canada and the US.
According to the newsletter Random Lengths European suppliers appear to be taking a ‘modest approach’ on raising prices, to make them attractive compared with their Canadian counterparts.
However, it says, the recent rebound in the euro against the dollar – about 7% since mid July – has hit European suppliers at a time when they’re facing soft home markets and depressed demand in Japan and in North Africa.
