Well-known timber industry businessman Richard Fawcett and his associate Paul Phillips have bought Dale Joinery Ltd’s window division at Lichfield from administrative receivers.
But Dale’s main Rochdale site is being wound up with the loss of all remaining jobs after receivers failed to find a buyer for the business.
The purchase of the Lichfield operation for an undisclosed sum safeguards 50-plus jobs. Plans for the business include doubling sales to £5m in the next year.
Former Palgrave Brown managing director Mr Fawcett, said Dale’s window division was a complementary addition to the partners’ portfolio of businesses, which include Ackworth-based timber garden products manufacturer Dandf and Polyfence.
Mr Fawcett said: “We’re interested in combining our many years’ experience in the timber and building industry supply sector with products of the highest quality and Dale Joinery windows is a logical and perfect fit.”

Meanwhile, administrative receivers Ernst & Young are to close Dale’s main Rochdale site, which ceased production on March 12.
Amy Rotherham, spokesperson for Ernst & Young, said: “There have been exhaustive efforts to try and find a buyer for the company as a going concern but there just has not been any significant interest in the business.”
She said the Rochdale operation had suffered from intense competition, whereas the Lichfield site made high quality items for a niche market.
Dale originally went into administrative receivership in January after reportedly accumulating debts of millions of pounds (TTJ February 7/14).
