Danish forest owners are gaining the opportunity to sell their wood to the Swedish wood processing industry thanks to a new agreement with Södra, the Nordic Forest Owners’ Association says.

The creation of the Danish Forest Owners’ Development Association (SEUS) late last year gives members the same opportunities as Södra’s Swedish members to sell wood to Södra. It is the first time that Södra has invited non-Swedish forest owners to supply wood on the same conditions as Swedish members.

The move provides Danish forest owners with a secure and attractive market for its coniferous forest thinnings.

SEUS and Södra are now working on the practicalities of the co-operation. SEUS intends to invite Danish forest owners to become members and unveil concrete proposals during the first half of 2009.
