“Commissioning of the steam generator is an important step towards creating a cleaner environment and promoting sustainable development,” said Klaus Hansen, IFO general manager.

“This will reduce our annual CO2 output by some 3,300 tons per year. Because diesel fuel has to be imported and global oil reserves are fading, this investment gives our company and the entire region greater independence,” he added.

Danzer Group has two African subsidiaries – IFO, which operates a sawmill in Ngombe, Republic of Congo, and SIFORCO, which has a veneer plant and sawmill in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The two companies employ around 1,800 people.
