Karl Danzer Ltd has joined forces with Spanish flooring producer Grupo-Ig to promote and distribute its engineered timber flooring within the UK and Irish markets.
James Angel, sales manager at Danzer, said the main attraction of the deal was the fact that Grupo-Ig could offer Forest Stewardship Council certified timber.
He said: “Currently the mill is producing more than three million m² a year, of which 1.8 million m² can be FSC certified.”
Mr Angel said the engineered product fell between laminate and solid wood flooring. “It has a solid hardwood layer on top of a softwood core with a rotary veneer backing.
“The supplier can offer three jointing systems, two lengths and FSC certification – so the whole package is there. The response so far has been positive.”
