The American Softwoods organisation says that its recent round of seminars on decking construction attracted over 100 industry professionals.
The events were held in association with the Timber Decking Association (TDA) in Belfast, Barnsley, Telford and Gravesend and were attended by installers, merchants, builders, landscape gardeners and architects.
The seminars provided guidance on decking design, timber species, building regulations, site considerations and exterior use of treated wood .
Speakers included Martyn Spence, technical adviser to the TDA , and Thomas Rathobone, UK sales manager of wood care specialist Owatrol Products.
American Softwoods European marketing director Eddie Pearce said that US southern pine was proving increasingly popular for decking and that the organisation is planning further seminars.
