Deltic Timber has completed a major investment in its Waldo Southern pine mill in south Arkansas.
The spend is the second major investment in the mill since a fire caused severe damage in the planer mill last summer.
Automatic feed speed controls have been implemented to further increase throughput and decrease maintenance. The existing sharp chain system has also been upgraded, involving the replacement of older analog sensors with newer Smart TriCam sensors that operate better on dark wood.
The earlier investment last November saw USNR supply a new planer, which allowed the mill to reume operations after being out of action for three months due to the fire.
Deltic produces dimension lumber, boards, decking and secondary products, as well as owning 438,200 acres of timberland in Arkansas and north Louisiana, primarily Southern pine.
