Direct Timber Ltd plans to create 40 additional jobs over the coming months as it extends its recently acquired site in Enderby.

The timber garden products supplier, which invested £2.5m in the Enderby site last October, will recruit staff for a wide range of roles, including fencing panel manufacture, administration and materials handling.

UK sales manager Mike Pitcher said the jobs would come on stream gradually over the next six months as the company spends £500,000 extending the eight-and-a-half acre site to grow fencing panel capacity and introduce a pressure treatment facility.

He said the recruitment would double the workforce of the company, which started operations at Enderby following the Christmas holidays. The original Coalville site will continue to produce fencing panels.

Mr Pitcher said: “We had a very successful GLEE and the range is being extended, for both manufactured and imported products.”
