More than 800 bespoke timber trusses have been manufactured and erected by Dover Trussed Roof in a £72,000 extra care facility contract for Denne Costruction in Sutton.
The development of 62 flats for the elderly for housing provider Housing 21 required trussed rafters for green roofscapes, where imposed loads are far higher than for conventional pitched roofs.
The job involved some 250 pitched roof trusses of up to 10m span, plus a further 564 parallel chord trusses, which are covered by decking and a waterproofing membrane and eventually by the sedum.
Dover Trussed Roof, a member of the Trussed Rafter Association, was subsequently invited to participate in the design team for Housing 21’s next extra care project in Crawley.
