Donaldson Timber Engineering (DTE) says its Structural Insulated Roofing System (SIRS) has been a success with certifiers and housebuilders.
SIRS was launched at Interbuild 2006, and since then has achieved TRADA and National House-Building Council approval and has been used by housing groups such as Persimmon Homes, Lomond Homes and Opal Homes.
SIRS incorporates structural insulated panels, cassette floors and roof trusses and, most importantly, according to DTE, excludes purlins in construction.
According to DTE, SIRS has been accepted by the construction industry as it is “simple and quick to build”, “can reduce erection time by 60-80%” and “contributes to low carbon build”.
