The Duke of York has joined in James Donaldson & Sons Ltd’s 150th anniversary celebrations by visiting the mill recently.

Prince Andrew toured the mill and presented a long service certificate to Andy Waddell, who has been with the company for 50 years.

“We are incredibly honoured that HRH the Duke of York was able to join us to mark our 150th anniversary,” said Neil Donaldson, chairman and chief executive. “The group of Donaldson’s employees and local high school pupils who were available to meet the Duke of York were particularly delighted that he took the time to speak with all of them. We all had a most enjoyable morning, which even the rain couldn’t dampen.”

During the visit, Prince Andrew unveiled a commemorative sculpture carved out of a tree – representing a lumberjack from 1860 when the company was founded. Neil Donaldson presented Prince Andrew with a traditional hickory-shafted putter.
