Watford-based bespoke shopfitting and exhibition stand specialist Deadline Cutting has speeded up output thanks to the addition of an Elcon vertical panel saw.

The company said board sizing was causing delays in its manufacturing process, but the layout of the premises made it difficult to add machines. An Elcon 155D proved the solution.

“I knew a vertical panel saw would be a huge time- and space-saving investment, but I didn’t realise quite how true this was,” said Deadline Cutting director Phil Spinks. “The 60mm depth of cut allows us to size multiple boards at the same time, a real time saver.”

The 3300x1550mm Elcon 155D was supplied by Daltons Wadkin, which had to dismantle it and lift it to a mezzanine floor for re-assembly.

But despite this the installation went well, according to Daltons Wadkin director Alex Dalton.

“On the first day the machine sized over 250 boards and this rate of operation had to continue until the backlog was cleared,” he said.
