Estonian closed panel timber frame producer AS Matek has appointed UK agents as it seeks to use the extra capacity of a planned new factory.

Newark-based Matek UK is to market the timber frame homes to a wide variety of clients, ranging from self-builders to those developing on a larger scale.

“Penetrating the UK market will be a fun challenge,” said Matek UK’s Mathew Clarke.

He said Matek would bring something fresh to the UK residential and small commercial project market by selling units clad in timber, similar to those in Scandinavia and New England.

Insulation, weatherboarding, services, windows and doors are all integrated as part of closed panel timber frames manufactured in the factory.

Matek’s current factory capacity is 400 houses per year, rising to 1,000 later this year once the new factory, which is also in Estonia, becomes fully operational. Factory construction work starts in the spring.

AS Matek was established in 1988 and its largest market is Norway.
