The European forest-based sector was invited by the European Commission to present its “climate change actions” at Green Week in Brussels recently.

The sector used the event to show it is amongst the most environmentally responsible in the world.

It demonstrated its ability to reduce climate change through factors such as using wood and paper products for their carbon storages and the importance of the natural carbon cycle to both climate change and the forest industry.

An interactive software tool – the CO2 calculator – showed how the use of wood and paper products helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and provided an estimate of the CO2 stored when using products such as a wooden table, a newspaper or a cereal box.
