PVCu and aluminium window manufacturer Everest has broken a long-standing tradition and added high performance timber vertical sliding sash windows to its range.
Made from European redwood, the windows, which are manufactured by Allan Brothers, a division of Palgrave Brown, were developed in association with English Heritage and Historic Scotland.
This is Everest’s second foray into timber – it marketed a casement hardwood window many years ago – but primarily the 35-year-old company is associated with PVCu and aluminium.
Product manager Stephen Hayes explained: ‘We recognised that there are a lot of timber sash windows around the country but no major player in that sector.
‘Having identified an opportunity for the company we worked out what kind of specification we wanted. We then visited a number of different suppliers to see if they could match the spec and Allan Brothers fitted the bill.’
The timber windows were on show at the recent Ideal Home Exhibition where Mr Hayes said they generated a lot of interest.
