The companies, from Costa Rica, Ecuador, Ghana, Guatemala and Honduras, will exhibit under the umbrella of the CBI – the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries, an agency of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
All have been supervised, prepared and trained by the CBI to help them attain reliable and efficient high quality finished and semi-finished products which enable them to actively compete on the European market.
The CBI said that the nine companies are all actively involved in sustainable forest management, with some already Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified.
Their products – all available in a variety of tropical hardwoods – include mouldings, doors, window and door frames, flooring and decking, parquet, and furniture and furniture components.
The CBI assists selected companies in developing countries to export to Europe, improving their quality systems and environmental aspects of their product chain with a special emphasis on sustainable forest management via FSC certification, organisation and documentation. It then matches these companies with interested importers in Europe.
