US and European exporters are looking to restart trading again in Libya once stability resumes in the war-torn country, according to industry newsletter Random Lengths.
Political uncertainty in the months following the war is still likely to make softwood trading difficult and it is unclear how lumber transactions will be financed.
But Random Lengths said exporters were expected to start setting up distribution channels soon.
Southern pine suppliers have maintained contact with Libyan customers since the violence erupted.
US shipments to Libya last year outpaced exports to Italy, the most common European destination, by 28%.
Swedish softwood exports to Libya were down 77% in the first half.
