The timber industry is being urged to increase wood recycling to help minimise global deforestation and landfill.

Fauna & Flora International (FFI), which runs the Global Trees Campaign, has called for action from industry, the government and the public to cut waste.

FFI estimates that 275,000 tonnes of waste is produced from UK joinery and furniture manufacturers each year.

To combat this waste it is launching a Wood Waste Information Service, giving details about wood recyclers. Contact FFI on 01223 571000.
