Finland’s wood products cluster is to produce a research strategy with the aim of improving competitiveness in the sector and enhancing its future.
It is hoped that the strategy will increase the number of common research projects within the wood products industry and help the sector to meet the challenges of the future, including the needs of customers and new uses of wood products.
The Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) is to coordinate the work of the strategy and said that “we must now rise to the challenge”.
Markku Lehtonen, who is heading up the FFIF’s involvement with the strategy, said the strategy will create the prerequisites for long-term co-operation and research investments,” said
The research strategy is due to be published in Spring 2008 and the FFIF has called on all companies and research institutes in the field to participate.
