English Heritage Buildings (EHB) of Woods Corner, East Sussex, has become the first oak frame specialist builder to achieve BM TRADA Q-Mark quality assurance certification.
The company uses only green, unseasoned oak from managed woodland and prides itself on using “centuries-old” carpentry skills.
The Q-Mark covers the systems and processesses it uses and the quality of design, manufacture and construction of its buildings.
It signifies that EHB’s incoming materials and components are correctly specified and gives specifies and regulators the assurance that its products are fit for purpose. It also shows that it meets the requirements of ETAG 007 EU guidelines for timber frame building kits and Building Regulations.
EHB’s graders were also trained and certified by BM TRADA in the “science of grading oak for structural purposes”.
