The STTA’s annual awards initiative is designed to encourage and inform current and future students of the benefits of using timber in construction.

Winners are Om Harris for best timber related final year project; Khrum Syed, for best design project by a second year architectural technology student; and Scott McAndrew, who won best performance by a timber engineering or timber industry management masters student.

Om Harris’ project demonstrated the application of Eurocodes to the BRE TF2000 building, while Khrum Syed designed the structure of a proposed new building for the CTE.

Mr McAndrew was recognised for achieving high standards in his Masters degree, which he is completing on a part-time basis.

“Their projects amply demonstrate the qualities timber brings to the built environment and we warmly congratulate all the students involved,” said STTA president Neil Donaldson.
