The timber products market is set for a rewarding year in 2004, with sales forecast to increase by an average of 2.6%, according to analysts.

A survey of 1,000 companies by Plimsoll Publishing Ltd found 25% of firms are showing unprecedented confidence about their prospects next year. Their sales are estimated to grow 10% on average.

About 50% of companies are predicted to achieve similar sales as last year, while 26% will be carrying financial difficulties into 2004 and could see a fall in sales of up to 10%.
