Forest Garden plc has been fined £2,000 for a breach of the Health and Safety at Work Act following an accident at its Steven’s Croft facility near Lockerbie.

Employee Andrew Murdoch sustained a hand injury last March while working on the drive motor of a vibrating conveyor. At Dumfries sheriff court, Forest Garden admitted failing to provide guards or protection devices in order to prevent anyone from breaching a gap in a safety barrier on the side of a concrete base supporting band re-saws while these machines were in operation.
