According to a United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation report, forest cover is still diminishing in the tropics, but is on the increase in Europe.
In its bi-annual State of the World’s Forests 2001 report the FAO says the biggest threat to global forest management is corruption and illegal forest practices followed by conversion to other land uses.
