Tree planting ‘top-up’ grants totalling £1.85m are to be made available across Scotland, forestry minister Allan Wilson has announced.
The Scottish Executive locational premiums, offered as an addition to standard forestry grants, will be the first of their kind under the Scottish Forestry Grants Scheme, to be launched by the Forestry Commission next year.
The premiums will take over the targeting function currently provided by challenge funds under the Woodland Grant Scheme and will be offered at a fixed rate per hectare on a first-come, first-served basis.
Grants are available in parts of West Lothian, Falkirk, Lanarkshire, East Dunbartonshire, Ayrshire, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Shetland and Orkney.
