The future of business opportunities for forestry industries from both sides of the border were discussed at a joint strategy meeting in Cumbria last week.

The event, attended by public sector organisations and local companies, was organised as a follow up to the annual “Borders Vision” conference which seeks to encourage greater co-operation across the south of Scotland and the north of England.

The meeting was opened by Forestry Commission chairman Lord Clark of Windermere and topics discussed included timber transport, communication, education and training.
