The role of forests in climate change policy will be examined in a one-day conference being staged by COFORD (Ireland’s National Council for Forest Research and Development) in County Wicklow.
“Forests, Carbon and Climate Change – Local and International Perspectives” on September 19 will feature presentations by leading policy makers and analysts, plus a number of scientists who are working on forest and climate change issues.
Speakers include Peter Stevens, of New Zealand’s Ministry for the Environment, John Fitzgerald of the Economic and Social Research Institute and Duncan Ray of Forest Research.
COFORD is also one of the hosts of Bioenergy 07 in Oak Park, Carlow on August 30.
