Former UK forests minister Elliot Morley has been jailed for 16 months for parliamentary expenses fraud.
Mr Morley, who stepped down from being an MP last year, pleaded guilty in April to filing excessive claims and putting in mortgage claims for a mortgage which was already paid off.
He served as UK environment minister between 2003 and 2006 and was a strong supporter of moves for the UK to purchase legally-harvested timber.
In 2005 he met timber traders to welcome The Timber Trade Federation’s new Responsible Purchasing Policy.
