Fountain Forestry Inc is to open an office in Tennessee after being selected by GMO Renewable Resources LLC to manage 82,000 acres north of Knoxville.

The office, along with West Virginia/Virginia operations opened in 2001, gives the company a management base of 125,000 acres throughout the central and southern hardwood regions, complementing its north-eastern hardwood operations.

Bruce Jacobs, company president, said: “Hardwood forests are recognised as being an important asset class providing diversity from more volatile markets elsewhere.”

Fountain’s total management base now exceeds 350,000 acres in the US and 550,000 acres worldwide.
